Concerned About Your
All Born (in) Conference
Saturday, April 21, 2018
Holiday Inn Portland Airport
The annual All Born (in) Conference is an exciting day for parents, caregivers, and professionals working to end segregation in neighborhood schools and the community. It’s a day of celebrating community and learning how to use Universal Design for Learning and Best Practices to reach and teach every child. Share, learn and make connections so that we can all go forth to open the eyes of the wider community to the fact that our children are all born “in”

Student of the Month & Inclusion
Acceptance speech given by mom of student of the month for February
This award is a wonderful representation of the positive effects of inclusion. I was caught off guard when the ladies in the office informed me that Marlena had been chosen for student of the month!!!! Until that moment, she had never been acknowledged for anything.Yet she continues to shine. This is inclusion! It feels so good as her mom to see her shine. It pleases me to see teachers, students and faculty come together to build a better, more inclusive culture for the future of our children and our children's children.
I want to extend a special thank you to Doug Tenyek for seeing Marlena as a person. For seeing her potential and working together with compassion and care.
To Taylor Halland for her forward thinking and willingness to include Marlena wherever possible. (Add: she has really fostered and encouraged other students to receive Marlena with kindness)
And finally to everyone involved in making a more inclusive environment for all. Thank you!
To Marlena, congratulations to you for this achievement, you deserve it and I wish you much more
